About Cytosystems - management team

Having successfully secured an exclusive global licence for the development and application of MCM protein antibody diagnostics for cancer of the bladder, Cytosystems has brought together a highly experienced and well-connected management team to commercialise this new technology.

The key members of the management team are:

Malcolm Macdonald of Cytosystems Ltd

Malcolm Macdonald

Chairman. A qualified chartered accountant and former senior partner with KPMG Consulting, Malcolm Macdonald specialises in working with growing businesses helping them to scale up, globalise and realise value.  Malcolm has extensive experience in working with international business accounts, in company acquisitions and disposals and in structuring licensing deals.

Richard Berry of Cytosystems Ltd

Richard Berry

Chief Executive. A graduate in Life Sciences, Richard Berry started his commercial career working with Professor John Mallard on the development of the University of Aberdeen’s ground-breaking Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. Richard Berry then went on to establish his own successful high-growth business in the private sector, before being recruited by Scottish Enterprise in 1992 as a Senior Executive mentoring and supporting targeted high growth Scottish businesses in several industry sectors including life sciences, energy and IT.

Dr David Galloway of Cytosystems Ltd

Dr David Galloway

Medical & Scientific Director. Previously Head of Clinical Pharmacology in a number of UK-based research pharmaceutical companies and latterly senior lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, Honorary Consultant Physician at the Grampian University Hospitals NHS Trust and Director of the Medicines Assessment Research Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen. David Galloway developed and managed growth of the largest and most effective single-site SMO in Europe, recognised by SCRIP (2005).

David Galloway has extensive experience in pre-clinical and clinical development, having been involved in over 700 technical submissions to regulatory authorities worldwide and more than 30 medical and device product launches.

Professor Andy Porter of Haptogen Ltd and Cytosystems Ltd

Professor Andy Porter

Non-Executive Director. Professor of Biotechnology at the University of Aberdeen.  Professor Andy Porter was a founder of Haptogen Limited and served as the company’s Chief Scientific Officer from its foundation in 2002 until its recent acquisition by Wyeth Inc.   Using combinatorial protein technologies (patent granted DBDx® phage display), Haptogen generated fully human therapeutic antibodies against a diverse range of targets that were considered intractable to conventional antibody technologies.  These were subsequently developed into an early stage product pipeline, notably in infectious disease and liver disease. 

Andy is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (March 2006) and was the Ernst & Young PLC UK Science & Technology Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005.
Keith Blundy of Cancer Research Technology and Cytosystems Ltd

Keith Blundy

Non Executive Director.
Keith is Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Research Technology, having joined the company in 1998 following ten years’ experience in R&D management and business development in agricultural biotechnology. He holds a BSc in Genetics and a PhD from the John Innes Institute, was a Fulbright Scholar during post-doctoral study in the US and has an MBA from London Business School. Keith was formerly a director of KuDOS Pharmaceuticals and Chroma Therapeutics.
