Cytosystems’ main milestones to early 2009 are as follows:
2006
- Appoint management team with extensive experience in commercialisation in biotechnology, pharmacology and life sciences
- Assemble world-class Scientific Advisory Board comprising five of the UK’s leading cancer research, oncology and renal physician experts
- Secure exclusive worldwide licence rights through to year 2018 from Cancer Research Technology (CRT) for the deployment of MCM (Mini-Chromosome Maintenance) protein antibody diagnostics in bladder cancer
- Awarded contract to the University of Aberdeen to validate the proof of principle and confirm the sensitivity and specificity of the core MCM technology over a two-year period.
2007
- Stage 1 clinical trial set up for first proof of principle patient study in bladder cancer and completed on schedule (July 2007)
- Develop and test prototype cell collection device to process cells in urine (increases cell life from 4 hours to +15 days)
- Accredited to ISO 9001:2000
- Successful statistical analysis of initial patient cohort in bladder cancer clinical trial (achieves 95% sensitivity vs urine cytology, i.e. absence of false negative results)
- Six unique protocols researched and validated for future commercialisation, including optimum urine collection times, volume, stability, cellularity, cell integrity, antibody laboratory stability and methodology
2008
- Successfully recruited + 400 patients for Stage 2 bladder cancer clinical trial
- Patent filed for cell harvesting device
- Secure exclusive worldwide licence rights from Cancer Research Technology (CRT) for the deployment of Mini-Chromosome Maintenance protein (MCM) antibody diagnostics in prostate cancer
- Successful Proof of Concept study involving +80 prostate cancer patients at a major UK teaching hospital
- Patent applied for novel diagnosis of prostate cancer
- Set up 100-patient clinical trial for prostate cancer
- Proof of concept achieved for the digitisation, chromagenic and morphological image recognition of bladder cancer malignant against normal cells
2009
- Data analysis in 400-patient study confirms high sensitivity and high specificity of MCM protein antibody diagnostics compared with biopsy
- Statistical analysis of 100-patient prostate cancer clinical trial
- Undertake multi-centre patient prostate cancer study
